Heinsberg Babies' Practice

The Heinsberg Babies’ Practice of the Municipal Hospital is found in the hospital’s immediate vicinity on Stiftsstrasse 11-13. Here, the maternity hospital provides a wide range of services covering all aspects of pregnancy, childbirth and newborn baby care. In classes or one-to-one discussions, pregnant women and young parents are cared for in a professional and sensitive way by a team that has varied skills to help them become and be parents. The Babies’ Practice team consists of gynaecologists, anaesthetists, a paediatrician, midwives, paediatric nurses (with an additional qualification in the field of breastfeeding and lactation advice, nutritional advice and baby massage) and a movement instructor who all work together. The team’s members provide very personal care as consultants in the respective classes or on a one-to-one basis.
The new Heinsberg Babies’ Practice has room on 200 sq.m. for classes, treatments, oral presentations, exercise classes, massage and discussion groups. It also emphasises special features with an attractive colour concept, functional and appealing furniture and much natural daylight. The practice can be easily reached by lift also with prams.
Christa-M. Schönberg, who has been a midwife for many years at the hospital’s maternity clinic, organises and coordinates the work at the Heinsberg Babies’ Practice: “With our regular offers on classes and consultations, we have made an all-round carefree package for the needs of expectant mothers and their partners as well as for parents and children during and after pregnancy. Together with those who come to visit our Babies’ Practice, we find out what is important and essential during pregnancy and being a parent. That way, we can adapt ourselves individually to the person’s private needs and ideas. Our ambition is to create a maximum of confidence with the pregnant woman, young parents and families.“
One focal point of the Heinsberg Babies’ Practice is the affiliated midwives' practice where there is medical attendance and consultation during the entire pregnancy. Help is offered where there are difficulties during pregnancy. For the midwives' practice, open consultation hours have been arranged on Mondays from 9:00 - 11:00 and Wednesdays from 16:00 - 18:00. Apart from that, it is possible to contact a midwife on Fridays by making an appointment by phone. The consultation hours can also be used to make a birth appointment at the Municipal Hospital. Another focal point of the Babies’ Practice is the extensive class offers: it reaches from comprehensive antenatal classes (in cooperation with the Anton-Heinen-Volkshochschule (an adult education centre), to postnatal exercises, baby massage, nutritional advice for babies after their fourth month of life, baby swimming and water fun for infants. Finally, there is a regular information and breastfeeding café at the Heinsberg Babies’ Practice where pregnant women and mothers can talk about their experiences in a relaxed atmosphere whilst being attended by paediatric nurses and lactation consultants who are on hand with practical hints and information.
